Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue is a place for new beginnings. They provide a safe haven for homeless pets while building a no kill community in Rutherford County, N.C.
Heart of the Foothills nonprofit animal rescue formed in July 2016 under the umbrella of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, as the Rutherford Chapter. They worked quickly and diligently, trying to build a no-kill community. They sought to find homes for every unwanted or abandoned dog, cat, puppy or kitten that was found in the county. To make a greater impact in their county, they had to stand on their own. It was an arduous task, but they separated from Brother Wolf, and on September 12th, 2019, they officially became Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue. Their new rescue continues the dedicated work but has also expanded. They are partnered with other rescues to transfer animals to locations across the country for a better chance at adoption. They help more families adopt or keep their own animals, and they take in more litters of puppies and kittens, while spaying or neutering any other animals from those homes, at no cost, to ensure that the cycle of unwanted litters is broken.
In 2021, they helped over 525 pets. This year the numbers are likely to double with the year-to-date total already at 559 pets.
